Watch Cinema Under the Stars in Sheffield

Sheffielder Claire Hunt has come up with a fun film idea for the folk in Sheffield. Harking back to her childhood memories of cinema under the stars, Claire has set up her own outdoor cinema brand called The Village Screen.

Claire describes the inspiration behind her idea:

The outdoor cinema experience is exciting and nostalgic and it brings back the joy of being 10 years old again.

My aim is to combine great films with the fun of an open air event combining unusual locations with quirky touches – think vintage deckchairs, popcorn machines, gnomes and inflatable pool seats.

The Village Screen has teamed up with Barnsley independent Cowlick Creamery and Sheffield independent Cow Boys burgers to provide the highest quality snackage during the events.

The Village Screen will be residing on the rooftop of Q-Park, Castlegate from 17th September to 19th September showing The Full Monty, Back to the Future and Dirty Dancing.

The Village Screen will then be showing some aquatic themed films, details soon to be released. Tickets can be purchased online now.

Claire describes a childhood where live events played a big part, and attributes this to the passion behind her own business The Village Green Events Company.

My dad toured the world doing production for bands so my sister and I were often dragged along; we definitely absorbed the atmosphere. I then worked at the Science Museum organising events for sponsors, so setting up The Village Green felt like a natural progression.

The aim of The Village Green Events Company is to bring quirky, sociable and fun events to the people of Yorkshire and Derbyshire, from open air cinemas, festivals and markets to weddings and private events. If you have any questions for Claire, please email
