‘Swishing’ at Couch in Sheffield tonight
Clothing X is an independent clothing exchange event at Couch on Campo Lane, Sheffield city, between 5.30pm and 9.00pm tonight.
Clothing exchange, or ‘Swishing’ is the new fashion shopping trend. Originating in the USA, it offers a sustainable and green way to network, socialise and shop, as well as supporting charitable causes with the proceeds. Local people are invited to bring a few items of unwanted quality clothing to exchange around a social time of networking, nibbles and natter.
Sheffeild Hallam BSc Events Management students Linzi Hughes, Rebecca Denny and Elle Betterton of Apparel Events are offering an exciting clothes swapping experience at Couch on Campo Lane in Sheffield, an appropriate venue with its cosy convivial table arrangements and warm, rustic feel. In the sharing nature of Swishing, all proceeds will be going to the local independent charity Cavendish Cancer Care, which provides emotional support to cancer patients and families.
Three to five good quality items of clothing brought along to the event will be exchanged for a token, and each token can be exchanged for another item. In a novel addition to the clothing exchange idea, an optional workshop will be available for guests to use a sewing machine if garments need altering. Other high quality stalls from local businesses will offer products to view or purchase.
A ‘Chocolate Indulgence’ theme will add flavour to the night, as will a presentation about sustainable fashion in 2015. Tickets are £10 and can be purchased from Eventbrite. This is a wonderful opportunity for a not to be missed fashion experience – do the Swish tonight!
