Feline Fun Run for Cats Shelter
Sheffield Cats Shelter is holding its second Feline Fun Run this year at Rother Valley Country Park on Saturday 2nd June.
Feline Fun Run is to raise money for Sheffield Cats Shelter, a local charity in Travis Place Broomhall, which has helped cats and kittens since 1897.
Everyone is welcome to take part in the 5 kilometre course around Rother Valley. People can run, jog and walk as there is no time limitation. Dogs are also welcome to take part.
Kim Steele from Cats Shelter said:
“Last year we had 50 runners taking part and raised £3000 for the charity. We hope this year we will also raise much needed funds for the shelter.”
Race to win a prize
The run will start at 11am and there will be stalls and refreshments on offer. The stalls will be there from 10.30am to 3pm for anyone wanting to buy a treat for their feline friends or a souvenir for the day.
There will also be a fun cat tombola and a hand-made gift stall along with free refreshments available for runners.
The shelter said that they will award a prize for the best fancy dress on the day. People are encouraged to dress in fancy dress, whether they are running or walking.
There will also be prizes for those who finish in first, second or third place. Those who don’t like running could aim for the prize awarded to those who raise the most sponsorship money.
To take part in the Feline Fun Run, there is an entry fee of £5 for each runner above 16 years old. The entry fee goes towards the cost of organising and running the event on the day.
To enter the race, you can fill in a registration form on the Cats Shelter website.
