Oisoi Oriental Food Demonstrations in Sheffield

Oisoi, situated in St Paul’s Place in Sheffield’s city centre, is a unique new addition to Sheffield’s Chinese food establishments.

This new concept offers an oriental food market in combination with in-store dining and a lunch menu which changes weekly.

Two of Oisoi’s artisan suppliers, Kimchi Mama, and Japanese soy sauce producers, Shibanuma, will be offering demonstrations this week to tell the story of their produce whilst sharing their craft.

Park Kwang Hee will make her kimchi (an essential part of Korean cuisine) and Shibanuma will teach customers how to pair sushi with their world class soy sauce. Tastings of the kimchi and sushi will be available, along with a few surprises such as shiso beef and more.

Oisoi’s founder, Jay Wang, is dedicated to discovering the very best artisan produce from across the globe and introducing them to the UK. He said:

I have been lucky enough to travel the world in search of the very best ingredients and now I want to share some of my experiences with Oisoi’s customers.

By having our artisan suppliers visit the store, we can share the history and craft that goes into the produce. It’s a great way to engage with our customers and demonstrate what Oisoi is about – making artisan oriental food accessible to all.

Nozomi Furuchi of Shibanuma explained:

Our soy sauce has caused quite a stir in Sheffield, as lots of people have only tried the mass produced versions. We’re hoping to use this week to show people how soy sauce changes with ageing – and how each one complements different food.

Kimchi Mama will be holding demonstrations from Monday to Thursday this week – between 11am and 3pm. Places are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Shibanuma will be in-store throughout the week.
